Feature Idea: viewed/not viewed
A nice feature to add to the forum would be a little notice like:

Viewed

This would go next to a PM that was sent and would be seen in the messages screen next to the title of the PM sent. This way you can confirm that a PM was viewed by the receiving party.

Edit: Maybe even a timestamp as well?

This feature has been suggested, and is on my list for 2.0.0 consideration. My principle objection to this is that I suspect that many users would not want to turn the feature on. Particularly for myself; I may read a question one evening, but not answer it until the next day, but I don't want to have to fob off the various inevitable "How come you haven't answered me, since I know you read my message?" questions.

So, yes to the feature, but ultimately it will be controlled both by an admin "master switch," and by users' individual preferences.

Sounds good.

It would be good if moderators and admin could override the user switch though.

If you send a "notice" to a user for improper activity, etc. you want to make sure that they read it. So from an official function side (admin/moderator) I think they should see it all the time. Even if they turn their own off for others.

Does that make sense?

Cool
