Any new suggestions?

Any new suggestions?
I'd like to hear any new suggestions or bug reports you have for the forum that are still present or missing from the current version on this site.

We're getting very close to a public beta release, at which point I intend to apply a feature freeze for any major features (minor ones still welcome) until after the stable release.

When you delete your post and then click edit your post reappears.

Code seems to get moved about between composing it and viewing the final message (maybe that is hidden  's in the original code?)

Can append sig to message be ticked by default for pm's also?

Can there be an option like w3t to put the side table (including Username, Status etc..) on the top _or_ side

Are we going to be allowed to use avatars?

How about moving threads (for mods?)

I second the move thread idea ... I read posts every so often that are in the wrong areas. Might be nice to clean up the forums every once in a while ...

Being a new fix, I added it before telling Alex, seeing how there shouldn't really have been any new features Wink

I'll update the site with it tomorrow.

Paul - can you give me some examples where the code isn't lining up?

1) Put an automatic paragraph break between post and signature. The post still is placed right above the signature.

2) Increase the size of the coding buttons in the post and edit forms.

3) Provide multiple interfaces that can be controlled by admin and users. Example: The left "user" column information should be optionally posted in the top of each post or as it is in the left of the post.

4) Put the original post replying to next to the textbox using IFRAME/ILAYER (especially useful for long posts).

5) Make the "FAQ" page more accessible as a link within the top menu rather than simplying putting "Get Markup Help" in the post forms.

6) Add a feature to see new posts in last day, two days, and three days (like with WWWTHREAD) not just a date field option in the search form.

7) Show what forum users have been in the last fifteen minutes as the "Who's Online" option rather than generic links like "Posting Reply".

I am sure there are other things that could be added.

Clean up left hand bar. Ugh. Or maybe move to top of message.

Member Directory.

Active Topics within x tim frame. Today, 3 days, this week.

Check that username exists and take PMs. It's a heck of a pain to compose a long PM for someone just to find out that after hitting send, that they've got PMs turned off. <g>.

Display # of people registered. x active now.

Get rid of Moderator table from main screen and extend subject and last post field. Print forum moderator at top of each individual forum.

Top 20 replied to topics. Top 20 viewed topics.

I dunno. Just some random thoughts from the top of my head.

Good job.

One more suggestion is that when you reach a forum page, like:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...gforum.cgi?forum=22;

The subject colum is way too narrow and many subjects overlap into the next line which looks really ugly. An immediate way to improve this would be to reduce the font size, or you can get rid of those two green and white ball icons. How many people actually use them? And the folder icon is not needed. It doesn't serve no purpose and it takes up some valuable space.

Maybe if you got rid of the text Status from the first colum, that would reduce it's width. Because the colum is double the width of the image which takes up some space.

Ugh. I'm so picky. But then again, if it's UI I'm talking about, I could always customize this myself and completly redesign it if I wanted, so I guess you're looking at more suggestions about features.

Hi Jason....

Hmm it seems to be ok now - did you changed the code formatting recently?

Hmmm what I do notice is that within code tags, sometimes line breaks are removed but some are left in.

Yeah, you've gained some extra space there which is great.

Did you see my message with the file attachment about the layout of the message window?

Thanks

Hey Jason here's an example of the code moving about:

That code was in a neat column when I posted it.
