"Don't use cookies" option

"Don't use cookies" option
Hi,

I don't understand the utility of the option "Don't use cookies" on the login page, since when we login without the option "Remember Me", Gforum does not already use cookies. So why we need the option "Don't use cookies" on the login page?

Thank you.

Hi François,

Gossamer Forum, by default, does use cookies. In the case of checking "Remember Me" it actually sets two cookies when you log in - a "remember" cookie and a "session" cookie. So there are actually three choices when you log in - a cookie that will expire when you close the browser, the former cookie plus a cookie that will never expire to automatically log you in in the future, or not using cookies at all.

Thank you Jason for you answer.

Ok I understand. But that is strange since I never saw the "session" cookie in the Temporary Internet Files of my browser (I'm using IE 6), even if I kept my browser open when I checked it.

Hi François,

I'm not certain of this, but I don't think IE stores cookies if they are meant to only last until the browser is closed.
