Can anyone tell me the normal place for me to find db.cgi ?
l cannot seem to find it anywhere in xxxxxx/cgi-bin/admin/

It shouldn't be inside the admin directory.
It should be in the same directory as your admin directory, somthing like -
xxxxxx/cgi-bin/dir_name/db.cgi
and your admin directory would be -
xxxxxx/cgi-bin/dir_name/admin/
