How do I import from dbman to ddmansql
Hi

We've just purchased dbman sql and have been using dbman for several years on our alumni site - I did a search and found 3 posts relating to this - but nothing of any use.

Is there a place somewhere that gives instructions for this?

================

well - I found it - but this is giving me a headache - it doesn't like the way that dates are in dbman version and it's importing them all screwy :(

Thanks -- looks awesome :)

it wouldn't let me edit a second time.

There was no import of the users password files from dbman (non sql) - and it only imported 15 of our entries because of the date problem - if anyone who uses dbman sql knows of where there are more documentation files please let me know - I'd appreciate it...I'm not getting much help from the help file - :(

I've actually had much better luck doing imports from MySQLMan than from the DBManSQL admin panel. MySQLMan just appears to be a bit more powerful and less fickle, although I couldn't tell you why (maybe just because the process is more direct and less complicated). You may want to look at importing the raw data directly with MySQLMan and then using the Load Table function from the DBManSQL admin panel to get it set up for use with DBManSQL. That's a technique I've had success with in the past.

Actually - I used mysqlfront (an AWESOME FREE TOOL) - because I had to move in a 25k line database (high school alumni site)

I'm still trying to find docs though - on setting the fields and the second portion of it - I must just be missing it here - I can't find it - I guess this is the portion that tells the form how to read the particular fields?

There aren't really any docs that I know of other than those provided via the "Help" link in the upper right corner of the admin panel. Apparently this is something GT is working on for the next release:

In the meantime, if you're looking for information about MySQL column types and settings, you might try http://www.mysql.com/...mentation/index.html.

Thanks - The tables & settings I don't have a problem with :) - Ive been using MySqlMan for quite a while - MySql Front is awesome for management purposes as well - my programmer turned me on to that and it was a godsend - I had to move 35 sites, all having MySql db's - and it made it a snap - I was so impressed - was blown away at it being a free product - went to check and see if there was an update the other day and they aren't developing it any longer ;(

Anyway - thanks for the input and glad to know it's not just me - I talked to our alumn president yesterday and just told him there was a high learning curve - but that I'd have things done as quickly as I could :)
