Hi, I tried to install my DBman SQL Version and got

a 500 Servererror....

I got no readme with the package and it should be the same like the old DB-man ( I asked per mail)

I used chmod 755 for the nph-setup.cgi - file and tried some other chmods

What´s going wrong?

by the way the programms works fine, I can log in with admin/admin and there are no problems

as long as the database is not needed (there are no tables for sure). So the paths etc. should be ok!

Are you on a shared server?
There could be many reasons for a 500, but a common reason is exceeding a limit (eg: for memory allocation or CPU time) imposed by your web host. If that happens, one or all of the current processes may be killed before completion.

It´s a shared server, but there is enought CPU Time for many applications...

For example I get to the limits, when I count matches for 20 categories in a DB-Man database with 1000 enties...

So I count 20 * 1000 in one process and it works ;D

This nph-setup.cgi setup isn´t very large and should not cause problems.

I found another topic about this problem. Someone asked for the Chmods, but the answer was deleted by an Administrator. Why?

I think you should contact GT support, as they must have a lot of experience installing on shared servers. Even if you prefer to do it yourself, they could probably help you to diagnose your problems.

So I´ll follow your tip and ask the support...

Make sure that the nph script is 755 as well as the directory has been set to 755. If it's a shared server, cgi-wrap is picky about permissions like that.

Try to locate your error log and see what it reports, 500 server errors are just what the user sees.
