We have 2 types of member and this is indicated by a flag stored in the database.

Paying members will be able to add extra information to their company record. What's the best way to go about doing this?

In this case, you should add a field called member_type (TINYINT) into the user table and change the add_form.html like:

You need to change other forms as well (search, modify, results form).
