DB with lots of records...

DB with lots of records...
I'm was using the most recent version of DBMan (not SQL), and I had no problem with it at all, but the host I was using, virtualave.net, terminated my account with them because they said that the DB script was excessive use of their cgi resources....GRRRR....

So now I'm stuck: I am not willing to pay for a host with cgi-bin access, and I've tried just about every free server out there, and they all have been unsatisfactory. Most are like VirtualAvenue...a DB script takes up too much of their 'resources', the others ones seemed to be disfunctioning overall.

Does ANYONE know of a good free server out there that will host my DB script? Ads don't matter, the only thing I care about is that the server is actually working, it isn't really slow, and it has at least 10mb of space!

What about your ISP? Don't you get any webspace with them?

You could also try some of those 'free webmaster resources' pages, they always have big lists of free hosts. 321free for example: http://www.321free.com/category.php?catid=4

Good luck!

Hi! I know how you feel. I don't whether you have check out this free webhosting site but I think it's able to meet your needs. It lets you have 20MB of space, allows cgi-bin access and what's more, I have been using the script for 2-3 months for a gaming website where I receive a number of applications per week and the people there have not shut down my website yet.

http://www.hypermart.com

Hope this info was useful to you.

Jessica,

How many records did your DB have? Were they just plain text - ascii or did they include pictures / binary files? This is of concern because I have plans of implementing DB but am now afraid to proceed for my 550 text file database. Can you give me some feedback? Thanks,

Dan

Auau!

www.hpermart.com is www.virtualave.net
its exactly the same, only the logon screen and the adress is different,
virtualave has the same restrictions as hypermart.

ps: don`t you recognized the popups at virtualave they always advertise for hypermart.
