Wanting to do this...
hey guys,

I've had an idea and I want to go HOG wild and wanted any suggestions from you gurus that might help.

I run a large Mustang site as a hobby. Well I have decided to build a parts finder database site.

I guess the biggest hang up I am on is the EASE of vendors adding parts. For them to go in and have to input an entry each time and alos having to input thier name, phone number etc. for numbers of parts this one turn them away from wantig to participate.

Has anyone written a mod to allow multilple submissions at one time.

I guess I could probably have a seperate script to allow the input.

Let me just basically give you some ideas of how I want it to work and then I am open to suggestions and ideas. I have worked with the DBMan before on other occassions, I do know the script but not sure if it will meet my needs, maybe you guys can interject. Wink

When you initially hit the page, it will be some banners, short statements of what the site is about.

On the vendors end they are going to have an acount ID assigned by me. With this account they will be able to input all the parts they want. they will be given an Vendo number so I can search the databse and keep track of how many entries they actually have for payment purposes.

Now results from a search are going to be sorted by price, thus the lowest price being at the top. Wink

I can have the display layout. What would be nice is by having the VENDOR ID number in the database to automatically bring up the Vendors name and phone number, that way when he enters his part numbers he is not entering that data everytime, make sense?

On the users side its pretty simple, I will have the default permisions set on so they can jsut browse with no problem.

I have run into difficulty with the user permissions with the script. For the add and delete section could I jsut add a sub so that when the add and modify and delete subs are called it ask for a passwrod then.??

Am I making sense? I jsut popped all this together in my head today and wondered if you guys could give some ideas and feedback.

Input is welcome.

Smile
