mycgiscripts
Hi,

I'm really sorry we were so slow to respond to this.

mycgiscripts is an authorised reseller of Links. We do get a license fee for every copy that is sold. However, we do not handle any support for the product, all support should be directed to mycgiscripts, and not on this forum.

I'm not aware of any copyrighted code that is included without permission, but I haven't gone through it thoroughly. If you are aware of something, please send me an email at alex@gossamer-threads.com.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You can also email the author directly at coral@donin.com (who's name is also coincidentally Alex).

Cheers,

Alex

Alex,

Thanks. That is part of the problem cleared up but not why I started the FYI thread as I knew that he was paying you properly due to the hidden code in his order page. I obtained a copy of the code a few months ago and posted the names of the copyrighted material included in the code in the other thread from a while back. The problem is no-one has a recent copy of the code apart from those who have bought it, so it is not possible to check. Mycgiscripts may have removed the copyrighted stuff when we asked a while back OR he could have quickly removed it after reading these recent threads, OR it may still be in there - we just don't know.

Clearly their version is buggy which is frustrating your customers, or at least people who associate mycgiscripts version with your company, which doesn't reflect well on Gossamer-Threads.

This is why we are concerned. I know that when PaulWilson reviewed an older version there certainly was. I personally would like to review a recent copy to ensure none of my programs/mods are still included.

Hi,

Of your posts you mentioned:

8) I see an exact copy of the Fluid Dynamics spider.

No longer there.

9) I see an exact copy of the portal.cgi.

No longer there.

10) I see an exact copy of the reviewit.cgi.

No longer there.

If anyone else has any concerns of mods they did, please email me and I can check.

Cheers,

Alex

Fair play.

But they were there and that was the problem but I guess not anymore.

Thanks!

No problem at all, I want to make sure it's legit too. I do realize they were there, but thankfully they were removed once it was brought to his attention.

Cheers,

Alex

Thanks Alex, I apologise to everyone for jumping the gun a little (lot).

I know Junko has thoughts on this but what would be nice is maybe a page dedicated to authorized re-sellers with maybe a company logo or something. Is this something you'd consider?

May I suggest that you post some guidelines on this subject?

This should include:
-how to get a license to resell
-what can and cannot sold
-a list of current resellers

Moderators in the affected program's forum should be allowed to review the program prior to approval, so they may be informed of it's content, etc. and keep threads like this to a minimum.

And maybe a hidden admin/moderators forum to discuss issues like this in private.

Happy coding,
