Just a minor thing I noticed - the copyright on the page footer is still saying 2002.

Actually the copyright date is when the "work" is created and the copyright claimed. Usually, you want to claim the earliest date and the date of the last revision, ie: Copyright 1997-2003. Omitting the earlier dates can create problems because a sharp lawyer might claim you have stopped claiming those earlier copyrights and are only claiming the latest revisions, not the entire work. It does not expire for (most places) something like 50 years from the date. Sometimes it can be renewed or extended. You can also tweak works (change films from analog to digital) and sometimes claim a new copyright date. Not a lawyer and your mileage may vary.Wink

I did, I was honking your horn...notice the .shtml extension of my pages :)

I found you can do some really cool stuff with SSI including if/elsif/else tags.

Here's what I have at the bottom of my main page...

Code:
<!--#if expr="${HTTP_USER_AGENT} = /MSIE/" -->
You are using Internet Explorer. This is the preferred browser for browsing the AdSQL website
<!--#else -->
We recommend Internet Explorer for the greatest viewing pleasure.
<!--#endif -->

<!--#if expr="${HTTP_REFERER} = /http/" -->
You were referred from <!--#echo var="HTTP_REFERER"-->
<!--#else -->
You were not referred from another page and came here directly.
<!--#endif -->

Re: [Paul] Copyright In reply to
Copyright appears below that...(besides SSI, you can automatically strings of text across multiple pages with almost any kind of text or WYSIWYG editor program, like HomeSite, Cold Fusion Studio, Dreamweaver, etc., and make those changes quickly)...but yes, I did notice that you are using SHTML pages, so, you probably are using SSI....

Surprised that I was actually able to access the site, since I am using Netscape and with most of your sites, you redirected Netscape users to other sites since you are anti-Netscape...hehe!

Me too. I thought about a directive in httpd.conf to block a few people when setting the site up but couldn't be bothered in the end.

You refreshed my memory though ;)

I use a global that get the current year and place something like:

© 1996-<%year%>.... in a footer on all pages

Re: [Paul] Copyright In reply to
Doesn't matter, Paul.

klauslovgreen provided an excellent suggestion of you can dynamically print the current year in the copyright statement. But I am not surprised by your reply. ;-)

You can use SSI (simply CGI script to get the current year) or even javascript (and since your ADSQL uses tons of javascript, why not use it to print the year.

Dynamically printing content like the current year in a copyright statement is much better than having to manually correct that information (even within an included fle).
