Mod_Perl2 Compat

Mod_Perl2 Compat
Have your products been tested with the new mod_perl2 (beta) for compatibility? I'm installing this module with apache 2.0 as a DSO to use with Links SQL & GForum and would be interested if there are any current problems at this time.

Many thanks.

Im not sure about mod_perl2 beta but apache2/mod_perl1.99 don't work well together at all so hopefully mod_perl2 fixes those issues.

Yep, mod_perl isn't fully compatible with apache 2.0. Seems the group along with the PHP team have lagged behind with their releases. You would have thought with the development time scale of apache 2.0 these would have been ready around the same time - no wonder so many are holding off employing apache 2 for production servers.

Many modules don't work with Apache 2, it'll be a while before you see Apache 2 in maintstream servers (modules like gzip, frontpage, throttle, etc). The entire module architecture is entirely different, so it's a huge undertaking to re-implement the modules for Apache 2.

We've only played briefly with mod_perl 2, as it's still a ways off from anything stable. However, we do plan to look into it seriously once it matures a little.

Cheers,

Alex
