Script Needed
Hi !

I'm new to Links SQL (bought it about 2 years ago, but just installed it recently :)

I'm interested in a script that would replicate a local search engine (http://www.auyantepui.com) into my Links SQL.

In particular, I need to extract all the Categories and their correspondent links from this site, and create them into my Links SQL installation.

Please send your proposals to r@net.com.ve

Thanks !

Rob.

When you say a 'local' search engine, what is that engine called, or was it a custom job? Also, does it use MySQL, flat file? PHP/Perl ? etc. Just trying to find out more info, to give a better quote Wink

I meant 'local' as 'in my country'. We don't have access to the computer or the local network where the site resides (we can only access it by the web).

This search engine is a custom job (www.auyantepui.com). We don't have access to their DB (they are using MySQL / Perl). The only way to get the information is parsing web accesses. We need a script that would access the site, navigate it entirely and extract its Categories and Links. Then feed this information to Links SQL.

Hello netcomve,

I have reviewed the site and can do the requested script for about $250, and it could be finished this week.

Please send me an e-mail to nexo5@chasque.net if you're interested.

Best regards,

I'm guessing you don't own that site, in which case stealing all their links is wrong.

We already have their permission. It's on the 'Terms & Conditions' of the site.

Thanks,

It's a bit confusing because it also says:

Quote:
The user will not be able to modify, to copy, to distribute, to transmit, to show, to represent, to publish, to license, to reproduce, to transfer or to sell no information, product or obtained service of the network site www.auyantepui.com.

It also says the site must be non commercial.

Hi,

We contacted the site owners directly : They don't have any problem with the use of the material in the site.

If you're already talking with them directly, why not just ask if they can do a mysql dump of their database? You could even offer them some money as a dumping fee (which would probably cost less than getting a script done). Then you can just import it into your links setup!

Hi. They would only allow you to browse and import. No dumps. :(
