running multiple browsers on same machine?

running multiple browsers on same machine?
Hi Guys,
I noticed some of you are testing your scripts in:
IE4
IE5
IE6

I currently do this the hard way on different machines, my question is, has anyone found a way of running all the IE versions on one machine for compatibility testing?

I also need to test in IE5.01 and IE5.5..

Netscape is ok becausse I can install in different folders making seperate progs, but as we all know Mad IE likes to overwrite itself.

Any suggestions or software recs appreciated, cheers.

chmod.

I believe you can download software that will emulate various browsers spanning many different versions all within one application. I'll check to see if I can remember the name of this - I'm sure I've installed it once. I know this can be done with a low-cost subscription online @ http://www.websitegarage.com

Outlook is the same way. It doesn't matter which version you try to access, Windows always loads the one marked in the Registry.

LOL,
oh for the day when all browsers are compliant, personally I started with NCSA Mosaic and then NS2 which was very stable and then went to IE3 and never used NS for browsing again, the latest versions are mickey mouse ware, I thought IE was bad for memory violations but NS6 crashes my machine regularly.

cheers

I have a very handy freeware program I got from the internet somewhere that allows you to test in most of the differnet browsers Cool

I'll upload it to my Cricket Web domain in 4-5 hours and will give you the link.

Browserola is a HEAP OF CRAP.
I have it on my machine, it's only a browser emulater and it dosn't do a very good job.
The demo I have will only let you use it like 5 times.
Anyway thats what I think of it.

I think it's pretty handy for testing with older browsers or at least seeing what you site will look like.

The download above lets you use it as many times as you like.

The version I have is over a year old. The new version may have some improvments.
You can do the same just by opening the browsers you have in different windows and hitting reload.
The problem is in getting different versions of MIE onto your system as one version overwrites the other.
If your serious then go to - http://www.netmechanic.com/browser-index.htm
It does cost but it's worth it.
