internet/web search engine?
Hello ALL:

I'm looking for a Search Engine for my site to search the internet with low cost/high performance. Please give your input:

1) Javascript (which and why)?

2) perl (which and why)?

3) etc, (which and why)?

Thank you, peter

If you would want your own restricted sort of content, you could have a look at following url:

http://thunderstone.com

Long back had tried webinator free version ...
Must say it's great both in terms of speed and other features ...

Otherwise as Charlie suggested ...
Google API...

Hi.

You could play with

http://alkaline.vestris.com/

It has a theoretical limit of 2 billion documents.
Works fine with upto half a million documents full text search indexing
Lacks Phrase Search...

Best Luck

Hello HyperTherm, thanks to you and Chaz:

I have tried the alkaline engine; it looks good but would like to search the internet.

1) How did you set yours to search the internet?

Please give some hints in doing so.
I have not gotten any response from the software company yet.

Thank you, peter

Oh if it's having an interface to search the web from your pages, then:

Option 1: Chaz's Option but has limitation on number of searches or something.
Option 2: Try GoogleAdsense If you have a content based site. May or may not succeed in getting approvals but no harm trying.
Option 3: Just do a search on web. I think there are many who offer something. Findwhat.com for example is one. I am sure there are plenty like these, it all depends on what you want to do.
Option 4: If you are planning to start your own web search company or something ... I have no idea on this.

You mean you got no reposne from Vestris? If that be it you could try mailing

alla at vestris.com
But anyway, you could download and play with Alkaline Search. It is resource intensive.

If it's thunderstone, you could download their free webinator version and go through the documentaion /installation etc. Installation etc is a bit involved in this case. They would contact you sometime down the line automatically.

Thanks
