WAN / VPN
Hi

My boss needs a new laptop as she now works a lot from various locations. I've been billed with the job of finding a new one for her. Marvellous. Anyway, finding a laptop is not that much of a problem - what is however, is finding an effective way of tapping into our network.

I've set up remote dialling-in on the linux router box, which works fine. But when she's at very remote locations, phone call charges become an issue. Therefore, I've installed Freeserve with a nationwide local call rate on her machine, but this now means that she can not dial into our closed network and gain access to network resources.

So, my question is; what is the best way around this problem? Does anyone have any experience with WANs or VPNs to log into a network from a remote location? I *think* I need to look into a VPN soltuion but not quite sure where to start. Has anyone got any first hand experience or any knowledge of this type of thing?

Cheers
