Paint Shop Pro 8 - Opinions?
Hi All

Has anyone used the latest Paint Shop?

Paint Shop Pro 8

I hear it has some interesting features, like a Background Eraser.

Thanks Smile

Photoshop has had that for a while =)

Photoshop7 is my image editor of choice.

I always found PS Pro very limiting. I'm only using Photoshop 6, and that does a far better job than PS Pro 7 ever did for me Smile Just my opinion...

PS Pro has most of the tools Photoshop have, but it seems like Adobe still is some inches in front of Jasc.

But if you're good with PS Pro I would say you can do most of the things that are possible with Photoshop.

Just take a look: http://www.pinoy7.com/, or http://www.reality9.com/ .
Just something to take a look at! Sly

I love following those kinds of tutorials...you end up with something that looks pretty awesome at the end and it seems so easy. Without a tutorial you end up with something crap (well I do anyway Wink)

I use a variety to programs depending on what I want to do.. Fireworks is just incredible (IMHO), but I find myself popping open PSP (version 3, no less) for quick simple tasks such as cropping images, etc.

Not everybody is going to run out and buy Photoshop 7 (or 8 when it comes out) new for $550, or the upgrade at $120.

Users on budget can pick up Paint Shop Pro in the $70 range. It's a fine program and great for entry level users up to the highly experienced.

And let's face it, most average users who do buy Photoshop (or steal it) will never use more than 5 to 10% of the program's real power. Photoshop is not for people who just want to make web graphics or print out the fam's digital pictures.

Adobe does make Photoshop Elements, which is more in line with the entry level market and on par with Paint Shop Pro.

I agree that Fireworks is a great image application, and you can crop images within it as well.

I think that is the nature of more expensive computer applications, like MS Office, where most users use only about 10-15% of the features. I had an interesting article written by one of the M$ testing labs that illustrated this point, if I find it, I'll link it or upload it.
