I've just spent the last 3-4 days friggin with my winblows dev box.
Until now I couldn't believe that win tech folks were allowed to charge outgrageous prices for support (ie ... $100+ in Japan) .... today ... I came to understand why.
The break down for a $100 charge (ie ... simple sys install)
the actual amount is realistically $10 but the extra $90 comes from dealing with ...
- wanting to smash the computer physically
- totally unreliable sys / mo board installs
- wintech.com help just blows
- time googling to find some poor's soul outrage help ....
if it wasn't for this link ... little dog I'd still be crawling the net for an answer.
lol ... I even found this bill gates is .... .
why? why? why? does dealing with windows has to be such hell?
wouldn't it be some much nicer be able to :
- burn a iso cd without going through acrobatics
- installing new hardware works from the restart
- being able to duplicate a file with a keystroke?
- errrrrr ... copying to a floppy does die cuz you got too much data?
- drag and drop doesn't end up being an alias
- you don't need 3 different software packages to do something
... of course ... I haven't tried XP at home so ... XP might be the answer for many ....
openoffice + gimp + sketch ...
