The Electric bill costs

The Electric bill costs
Hello All,

My local goverment is selling off BC Hydro to the private sector quietly.

I expect my electric power bill will increase and service will drop.

Right now I pay $0.0577 per kilowatt hour [ 5.77 cents per KWH $ cdn ]

I expect this is to bring me in line with world prices of electricity , even though

most of the power is hydro dam generated.

What do you pay per KWH around the globe ?

Thanks cornball

Hi cornball,

We're at $0.116/kwh for usage up to 505.6 kwhs. That is what they call our "baseline". If we go over that, it goes up to $0.133/kwh. There are a few other breakpoints but you get the idea, it just gets more expensive the more you use. This is in USD for the San Francisco - Bay Area.

In light of our somewhat recent "Energy Crisis" that we've had in California, the local government was talking about re-regulation of energy. I haven't heard too much about the Energy Crisis yet this year so we will see.

let's see, this month shows

on peak: $131.02 for 1017
off peak: $71.19 for 1715

so $0.1288 kwh on peak, and $0.0415 off peak
