Well with XP you get some nice new icons :)

...and a little edit icon allowing you to edit the webpage you are looking at (no idea why).

Ummm thats about it.

That Edit icon has been in there since verion 5, and it's on the Win 95,98,2000 and NT4 versions.

I just can't believe it. There is absolutely nothing new about it. Shocking!

Same old dull icons. Ugh.... Jeepers, I hate IE. Why can't they liven the thing up a little. Surfing through IE makes you think you're surfing through a morgue.

Remember that old frozen chips advert back in the 90s.... "Same shit, different wrapper".

Guess I didn't look very hard at IE 5 then because I never saw the edit button :(

Either way its about a useful as a solar powered torch

Yeah, or a handbreak on a canoe....

Right then, Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add Remove Programs. Bye bye IE.

Back to my trusty Mozilla.

Surely, there are laws against this? What about trading standards? You can't claim it to be a brand new version when it's actually just the same crap?

At least NS have made a significant jump (not that it's still any good).

Grrr... A nice waste of 10 minutes. Might send the invoice to MS.

Cheers

I am sure the new features will become apparent once the anti-trust suit is settled. Possible features include:

- full logging of your music collection with bmi, ascap, et.al. This is not new, as it came with WinME, but is now fully enabled.
- M$ smart tags technology is fully enabled
- M$ smart tags auction where you too can bid for the links inserted on your pages!!!
- new "features" that require host use a IIS server
- and much, much more!!!

I found something to use IE6 for - a little fun perhaps. Paste this into the Address
bar and hit Go.

javascript:window.name="TheWCEE";location.href="res://shdoclc.dll/wcee.htm";

Wait a couple of seconds and...

Hmmm nice. I get a dead image in the corner though ;(

The image is part of a bigger "Egg" only assessable from V5 versions. This code is a quick fix to pull the info out that Microsoft left in the code.

Or maybe they are so darn clever that it takes them about 5 minutes.

Re: [RedRum] ie6 In reply to
That isnt really the point. If they have so much spare time, then maybe they could put it into something useful, like...mmm....fixing all those security wholes, virus attackl point...you get my drift? Crazy

Name me some security holes that you've found. Not some that you've read about.

You shouldn't make a sweeping generalization without evidence.

I doubt you've used XP either :) ....if you had then you'd know what they've (MS) been doing with their "free time"

Actually, I have used XP. Its a damn good bit of software! However, that still is going off the point. When they were writing Windows they should have done more security wise, and bug fixes, rather than doing '5 minute' tricks as named above Wink

Changing the subject..... has anyone had a chance to try out the X-Box? I work in the electronics department at a Wal-Mart and haven't had much chance to try it. MicroSoft came in last week to set up their demo system and they screwed something up. Currently we have audio, and no video output... seems they don't really know what their doing.... anyway, we're getting a shipment of X-Box's on the 15. Thank GOD I'm off that day.... last year just sucked big time when everyone was here fighting over PS2's.
