Difference a Monitor Makes

Difference a Monitor Makes
I recently changed over to a new monitor (Daewoo 531X) and wow - the net now looks completely different! Colours are more brighter and in some areas, washed out.

Now, as monitors differ slightly like this, I was wondering what colour you see at the top header of the GT site. The back-drop to "Creative Web Engineering".

With my old monitor this looked a dark grey but now I see a moss green. Shocked

Black...I have an old monitor (on purpose for testing the lowest denomiter of computer systems). If pages and graphics look good on my monitor, they look a lot better in better quality monitors...

Thanks, Paul, but the HTML works fine and looks great across multiple browsers...Better to concentrate on your own web sites, I am afraid...Wink

And I also use accessibility codes, which many sites, like yours does not include...

Yep moss green and swirls. Thats on my generic 15" monitor which is 5 years old. Don't know what brand it is, came with a P166mmx Signature. Decided to keep it because it is dam good. Realy nice crisp colors even after 5 years of constant use.

Yep, it's very rudementary ... probably from the NEXT platform.
Of course, there's still the typcial key stroke combination that mac folks are used.

You really gotta watch the quicktime movie that apple has on it's site about the imac ... link is in Alex's thread, you can get a good idea what a beginner mac person can do with the packaged software that apple is making for it's users. Of course those programs are "lite" versions but will do most folks would want a computer to do.

Paul, it's definately there, though not anything like the graphic on the main page. try zooming in on the image a few times in an editor, or adjusting the brightness/contrast on your monitor.

The *grey* siwrly rings behind the GT logo is the same color as the Creative Web Enginerring banner background. It's a nice grey, though, if that helps ;-)

By the way, it's not always in the monitor you choose. Check your Windows settings, right click ont he desktop and up the number of colours you see to billions, that's always a better bet.

And then go about adjusting your monitor settings.

Cheers

If I push my nose onto the screen I can seee I tiny bit of greyness.

My color setting are already at 32bit so it isn't that.

This raises an interesting point about use of colors in web design. No color could be considered as "correct" as your replies show many monitors display slightly different variations. A nightmare for web designers indeed!

I also see the swirls in the logo, swirling back into a infinite point with the color similar to the backdrop of the worded heading.

If you want a nice monitor software calibration program then I recommend the Nokia Monitor Test from: http://www.nokia.com.pl/monitory/index5.shtml (Ntest.exe)
