Soda = Fat

Our schools are over the top now!

The kids will just go across the street to the 7-11 to buy one anyway. But where do they get off saying that soda is a cause for obesity? Shhhhesh!Tongue

Coca cola used to contain tiny amounts of cocaine to make it addictive (hence the name) :)

It still does. Well, technically. A recipe still comes from the coca plant?

Fine throwing Coke-a-Cola facts around Tongue

Coke was also used as a chrome cleaner for a bit, the original formula was great as a rust remover, hence I think the bone melting theory came about.

Coke also created the Red and White, fat and jolly, and older Santa Claus that is pretty much Standard in many countries now.

The new coke recipe that got cancelled pretty quick in the States is probably the one used regualry in Japan right now.

Coke tastes better than Pepsi after you graduate high school Wink

Agreed, coke contained coccain while it was still legal in the States.

hehe, top that Laugh

I used to stick my copper golf clubs in coke....brought them up nice and shiny and prevented oxidation.

I recall a study that found for female highschool athletes, one can of soda per day would increase the risk of a bone fracture by 3 times. Mide you that's 3 times or 300% not 3%. If the soda was a cola then the increased risk was 5 times.

It has to do with interuption of calcium absorbtion and perhaps decrease in consumption of milk.

Only held true for active students (ie athlete) so if you choose to drink soda, don't move around.

The issue is that the state of California, in and on their own behalf, has made a decision for every voting parent by stating that soda was to be banned due to over weight potentials.

The cause du jour in California now is bad foods in school. And the head of the LAUSD has made an autocratic decision and without merit.

I found the article, attached as text file.

I guess that we SHOULD have freedom of choice to drink ourselves fat and crippled, but on this issue I think the decision is correct.

There are many problems caused by poor diet, most do not show up until late in life. Our kids would be healther drinking beer in school than soda. I drink soda now and then, but I am very much against soda.

It is all slippery slope legislation.

Take one freedom away...then another...then another.

I do not drink soda nor do my kids. But I want them to be able to make the decision, not the King of the LAUSD (or whichever branch is next)

Guns? Land? What's next?

I think it is to do with lack of exercise more than anything. I thought it was a wheat or gluten allergy at first but I'll try lots of exercise to see if that helps.
