Andy has stated that you atr an honorable person. And I am sure that Andy knows this from personal experience so of course I would accept his reference. But this is not about honor, it is about an expectation that you had that was not attainable.
There is nothing wrong with someone saying "no thanks". I have asked other developers to make something for me and they have refused due to time constraints, current workload, etc... And I did not cry foul in a public forum! I just went about my business and found someone else. No harm, no foul!
