Denied Remote Count Software
Hi,

I feel it was very unfair per being refused the opportunity to buy the remote count plugin. What have I done? I simply could not download the software after purchasing the product because of an cookie issue and as a customer I have a right to complain.

I'm sure we all expect a product after paying for it... correct me if I'm wrong. I feel It's very unfair to single me out... I'm a very nice person. I'm the lucky person who had trouble downloading the software.

I live in the USA and I had no idea that there are special times to download the software if that's the reason for the download issue.

Being denied the opportunity to buy the software is unfair.

If you would like me to post the issue in context, i'd be happy to.

I reserve the right to sell my hard work to whom ever I wish. Especially if it takes time away from my already very short day for support. If I choose not to sell to you, that is my perogative.

You have the option of:
  1. Contacting other developers on this forum
  2. Asking gt to write code for you
  3. Learning the plugin system yourself - as I had to a few months back

It is not an unfair thing. It is up to the developer if he/she wants to. Just like if you go into a resturant and they choose not to serve you. They have the right.

Developers are people, people have feelings, and feelings can be tarnished by being a nag.

So chill out and get a life. Do the mod yourself, contact GT or "politely" wotk with another developer to make it for you. You have choices so make one and do it!Smile

It's more of a personal issue per being denied the software and I'm not a nag. I expect good support like any normal human being.

I can see it from Marcus's position. He is a business man...and happy to pay for people to do work. It just seems a bit odd that Ian didn't want to sell it to him. I obviously don't know the 'behind the scenes' going on here...so I can't say either way, but I do know that Marcus is honerable to his word...

I think it would be bad business for two "business men" to debate each others professional character. Lets leave it at that.

Most people and companies that are very careful about what sorts of businesses and ventures they'll get involved with.

While you can make short term money from doing business with certain entities, you have to weigh the long term benefits OR penalities from doing so.

I'm not sure creating a thread to vent your anger was the right approach. If this had been something affecting a wider audience then I could understand but it seems to be a private issue between yourself and Ian.

What was the purpose of this thread?...was it to show distress at what happened or was it actually just to have a public dig at Ian's choice to to refund you?

Please don't think my reply is intended to criticize you, I'm just interested to know why you chose to make it public (you can tell me via pm or not at all if you wish).

I think the author of any software has the right to deny a sale if it is in their best interest for one reason or another, I know Ian quite well through the forum and he's an easy going bloke and is unlikely to deny your sale without substantial reason, but like I said it is a private matter it seems.

How many emails did you send on off hours to get the download?

How nice were you in those emails about it?

What is support when you don't even have the plugin?

Andy has stated that you atr an honorable person. And I am sure that Andy knows this from personal experience so of course I would accept his reference. But this is not about honor, it is about an expectation that you had that was not attainable.

There is nothing wrong with someone saying "no thanks". I have asked other developers to make something for me and they have refused due to time constraints, current workload, etc... And I did not cry foul in a public forum! I just went about my business and found someone else. No harm, no foul!

I've never heard or knew there are certain times to download plugins or certain times we can e-mail anyone. The purpose of my e-mails were to get the download url for the software because I was unable to download the software after paying for it... strictly business.

It shouldn't take several e-mails to get this info... instead I finally got a rejection letter. I only wanted to know where I can download this software.

I've asked if this was a joke because I've asked for the download url in several e-mails and I never got a resolution. Any human being would wonder and I've never had or heard of a hard time getting software after making a purchase online... until recently of course.

He can post the e-mails and the world will see how things actually went and I would like to have the rejection e-mail posted too... It will blow everyone's mind and I feel it was totally uncalled for. It's sad you can't or choose not to feel what I feel.

I don't wish this kind of issue on anyone. The rejection was definitely personal and the rejection letter will prove it.

As stated above by others, what is the point to venting publically. I am not going to sell you the plugin. You have just cemented my suspicions by carrying on in an inappropriate fashion in this thread. Give it a rest.

I am a professional, I will not publically air peoples emails, that would be wrong. In fact posting emails between one company and another can be illegal in some instances. However let me assure you I will correct any false or misleading statments about myself or my business practices. Also, if you do decide to bring my professional character into question, I will be forced to straighten the facts out and deal with your commentns appropriately.

I am flattered that you want my plugins so much, but I am also suprised at your methods of venting.

Once again, I have never seen anyone behave like this over a plug-in. What is so wrong with GT that you can't contract them to write for you? (Rhetorical question).

I am not your slave to write plugins at your beckon call, nor am I one to be told who I will give or sell my free time to.

One thing I would like to say to the people who feel it's okay to treat people anyway they please... What goes around usually comes around ten fold one day.

It doesn't surprise me that the rejection e-mail will not be posted because the e-mail will not be very tasteful... I don't think the world will appreciate it either. I will hold on to this e-mail forever as a symbol of pure hate that's in this world.

You know what they say about people who accuse others?... usually they are the ones who need to be investigated.

I know I can learn to develop my own software or hire someone to develop custom software, however my heart wanted to help support you and your product and help encourage you to make more plugins.

I don't dislike you in anyway because two wrongs don't make a right and I'm going to be a man about this and accept the fact that life is not always fair.
