I managed to catch a spammer last night.

They snatched all the email addresses from all of my websites, and hit them with the Klez virus.

They masked their email addres with a blahblah@msn.com.

I checked the return path and so on and found a shaw.ca address! I then phoned shaw cable systems (whom I am a customer of also), they matched the email address to a customer of theirs, and are now investigating the guy!

The reuturn path can also be faked...the guy may be innocent :(

Yeah, I thought of that too, especially since Klez seems to be one to grab the emails from a persons address book and send itself out.

However, it was addressed specifically to my sites only (very targeted, over 4 domains). So I am thinking Klez is not capable of this.

I don't think that the Klez can target you...you should go through some of your past spam mail if you have it...and see if the address appears there...if it does YOU GOT HIM...but still if he IS innocent...shaw can still track his outbox of outgoings can't they? I know what rogers is pretty anal when it comes to that stuff.
