Google is Microsoft ?!?!

Google is Microsoft ?!?!
Probably not, but just recently Google has changed its search engine to add a really ANNOYING feature.
Basically, they've taken a cue from Big Brother (Microsoft) and have decided that if they don't like they way you've typed something in they are going to type it for you (we know what is best for you, ignorant citizen). I don't mind them suggesting that perhaps something is mispelled, but then when they automatically take me to a page of results based on what they think I *meant* to type - that pisses me off! (pardon my French). For example go to google and type this phrase (related to tennis) "you can't lob in here". Google will decide that you really meant to type "you can't log in here".

I hate it when those 'fargin iceholes' try to make descisions for me. The bunch of 'bastidges'.

Okay, I'll stop now.

I still get the results for "you can't lob in here" but at the top it just says....:

Did you mean: you can't log in here

....with that phrase hyperlinked ready for another search....it doesn't seem to hijack the search.

Google also doesn't do case searches. If I'm looking for:

FRed

it searches for "fred" or any variation.

This isn't all that relevant to this thread, but I thought I'd throw it in.... Smile

I've only seen it happen if your "mispelling" returns 0 results.

Cheers,

Yep, or 1 match.

I'm sure enough that Google will allow you turn this feature on/off soon enough in your preferences.

Google also doesn't do case searches.

Google's advanced search feature also allows case-sensitive searches.

Sorry. I should have been clearer. When I searched for FRed, I had put it in quotes in the search box - "FRed" - should that have made a difference?
