DVD writer recommendation?

DVD writer recommendation?
Looking at buying a DVD writer. Anybody have a personal favorite?

I'm looking at
  • Plextor PX-708A
  • Pioneer DVR-A06
  • Sony DRU-530A

I'm leaning toward the Plextor, I've never had a problem with a Plextor CD-R/RW drive. But I hear good things about the Pioneer too.

Hi,

I've had good success with my LG one:

I used to always get plextor's, but this one was so cheap. =)

Cheers,

Alex

For your DVD's do you go with generic media, or buy branded media? I figure I should try a few out before I buy a stack of 25 or 50 blanks.

Right now I'm reading up on what software I'll need to 'back up' my DVD movies. Seem to be a lot of chaff on the subject, any nuggets of value to share?

I went with the Plextor. I'm a happy camper. Plus the Plextor shuttles now open & close much faster now than they used to.

Burned some generic media and it plays fine in my stereo's DVD player.
