CPAN
CPAN seems to be offline for me - is it for anyone else?

Hmm perl.com too and perldoc.com search gives:

ht://Dig error
htsearch detected an error. Please report this to the webmaster of this site. The error message is:

Unable to read document index file '/home/perldoc/htdig/db/db.docs.index'
Did you run htmerge?

perldoc.com has had problems for a couple of weeks now:

» Temporary Google Search Engine!
A temporary Google search engine has been placed until Perldoc.com moves to a new host. The move is schedule for the week of Dec 2, 2002. A special thanks goes to those who have sent the emails notifying me of the problem. Muchas Gracias!!!.

If you "Goto Perl Version" 5.6.1 or lower on their home page, you get the old search box and the error you mentioned. The search for 5.8.0 is the google search.

CPAN is working fine for me though.

You could always try http://cpan.gossamer-threads.com - it shouldn't be down (unless gossamer-threads.com is down as well, and that just shouldn't happen! Wink)

Or use the (much better) Kobes search:
