But again, it depends on your hardware. If you have a fast powerful server then Links SQL could probably cope with 500,000 to 1,000,000 links. I currently have 550,000 links on a server with 256MB RAM and it takes about 3 seconds for a search (on average - searches producing more results takes longer). If you install mod_perl then it will obviously be quicker, as would it be if you had more RAM.
Those 550,000 links have 120,000 categories and so that should give you an idea about what sort of figures are involved.
