Hi,
By default the password is not stored encrypted in Gossamer Mail. However, it is very easy to create a plugin so that Gossamer Mail authenticates off of another database.
We have already developed a plugin so that Gossamer Mail will authenticate off a POP server. So as long as you enter in a username/password of a valid pop account, you can log in and use Gossamer Mail. This is ideal for settings that want Gossamer Mail to access their email remotely.
We also plan to develop plugins for popular forums so that you can install Gossamer Mail and instantly give all your users on your forum free email.
Hope this helps,
Alex
