sub change password empties .pass file

sub change password empties .pass file
Everything else seems to work. But, this one is giving me a headache.
The admin change password works correctly.
Change email works correctly.
But
change password routine stores only the current user in the .pass file. All others cease to exist.
I re-upload them and keep trying, but I can't seem to find the cause.
Does this sound familiar to anyone...
especially if you have found a cause and maybe (I hope) a cure?
Thanks

Carol (JPDeni), our Forum Moderator and author of the Password Change Mod, will hopefully be back soon. She may need to assist you with the problems you are experiencing.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

Thanks, Elliot, for the promptness of your response and for the tone of empathy/sympathy. It helps to believe that someone else "feels my pain".
But -
If only JPDeni can help and she is away, busy, moved on, dealing with heavier priorities -- and will only "hopefully" be back -- I am left with little confidence for finding a solution.

I "commented out" the line that gives non-admins the password change option.
That will solve the symptom for now.
I have still not been able to find the cause of the cleaned-out .pass file in the sub change_password.

Reger,

JPDeni is not the only person to help people in these forums. But as someone who has written the Mod, I think it would be best for her to address it. I don't know her exact logic in writing mods, so the advice I give may contradict the proper solution. Also, JPDeni and others may not be able to assist others with mods that I write for DBMAN and LINKS.

Please be patient and more understanding. JPDeni has committed a lot of time and energy into assisting people. She will hopefully be able to assist you.

I, too, had problems with the password change function in the Secure Password Mod. So, I took out those routines and now I am left to not have the email change or password change mods installed.

I am glad that you found a quick and dirty work-around for the problem.

Regards,

Elliot -
I am sorry if I appeared to lack understanding and patience. I very much appreciate what others (esp. JPDeni) have done. Your prompt response and concern were quite welcome.
I am only irritated with myself for not being able to solve the puzzle.

I am having the same trouble. Everything else about this mod works for me, I've been over and over the files, cleaned up the .pass file row by row, etc., the change password via the ADMIN screen works fine (even changes in the db record)....

But using the interface change password function wipes out the default.pass file. I am pretty stuck (and incidentally, I too commented out the link to the change password form as a workaround Smile ).

I only have 103 records in my db and even fewer entries in the .pass file (many records are owned by me, the admin), so things weren't too bad to clean up.

Here's hoping JPDeni can help, as she has so many times in the past...but especially hoping she feels allright and has a good kettle of tea going.
