nph verify problems

nph verify problems
Since upgrade to v3 I keep hitting nph verify problems. After a few checks it throws back "mysql server has gone away"

I understand potential reasons so made some changes to server msql settings but it still bombs out, is there a fix or can anyone tell me what they have set their database settings to be. This bit of the program simply doesn't work very well anymore and I would like to keep my links clean and of value.

Here's a link from MySQL about the error: http://dev.mysql.com/....0/en/gone-away.html. You might want to get your server administrator to check MySQL's logs to see if there's anything there that might explain why the server 'going away.'

I have been thinking about releasing a 'plugin' that reverts the verify code back to the 2.x code since there are some issues with the new code with Windows servers, but it would also work in your case too. We're currently busy working on gforum, so it will be a while before I get a chance to put the plugin together.

Hi,
just wondered if there has been any progress on this issue, nph verify is a problem and doesn't run very well for me.
Have checked with my host. I've got a fair amount of resources available but few of the processes were running from more than 300 minutes (were stuck) which then bombs out other checks

cheers

Here are the nph-verify scripts from Links SQL 2.1.2. It should work with glinks 3.x, but you first need to edit both files to change the use lib and Links::init() lines to include the path to your admin. Put these two files in your admin directory (you might want to back up your original nph-verify.cgi) and chmod 755 them.

Hi Brewt,

I uploaded the files and monitored for a couple of days but despite double checking chmod and paths I am getting errors with the file. Can run verify via the browser but not as a cron.

This is the error..

<p><font face='Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica' size=2>A fatal error has
occured:</font></p><blockquote><pre>Links::Config (13338): Unable to compile
'./Links/Config/Data.pm': No such file or directory. at
/home2/ukpages/public_html/cgi-bin/search/admin/Links.pm line 100.
</pre></blockquote><p><font face='Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica' size=2>Please enable
debugging in setup for more details.</font></p>
Links::Config (13338): Unable to compile './Links/Config/Data.pm': No such file
or directory. at /home2/ukpages/public_html/cgi-bin/search/admin/Links.pm line
100.

Unsure why it is looking for data.pm or links.pm as neither seem to be called in the new files.

What should I do ?

Many thanks
kevin

You probably didn't fix both the paths in both files.

You were right.

changed it and it *seems* to be ok but need it to get to end of week when non browser checked links will be >7 days old

Thanks for your help though Brewt, it was a bit of a pain.

Your account ukpages.co.uk hosted on server Vulcanus is running several instances of the cgi script nph-verify.cgi for days causing server load and memory
issues. As soon as we block the script, the server load comes down to
normal. This is causing problems for all the other clients/accounts on
the server. We had no choice but to temporarily disable the script
to stabilize the server. Please check with the developers of the
scripts if there is any issue with it and may need upgrade.
