anti-virus/anti-spam
Hi there...

Is there a current method for an *end user* to adjust their spamassassin scores?

I am trying to find a webmail application (we own Gossamer Mail) whereby a user has complete control over their antispam settings *and* any email that is virus infected (after it's been cleaned) OR any email that is marked as spam would showup in an automatically created folder called "spam" or something.

Is this possible?

Thanks,

Paul

Sorry to bump my own post... but what I'm looking for is identical to postini for example whereby an end user can control their settings and also see what's been blocked ....

Thanks,

Paul

With a typical Gossamer Mail setup (ie. using a catchall), you won't be able to use SpamAssassin at the mail server level as it will use the catchall account's SpamAssassin config.

You can however, move the SpamAssassin checking into Gossamer Mail. With the SpamAssassin plugin, this allows you to do this, but at its current state, the plugin only allows a minimal SpamAssassin configuration. It can be easily extended to allow the user to change all aspects of their SpamAssassin config (it isn't like this by default as most of these settings will overwhelm most users).

So, if it's easy to extend (I ran the plugin some time ago while testing) then is it just a "flick of the switch" to allow an end user to adjust their score? Primarily interested in a user being able to whitelist/blacklist and change their own personal score level. That's about it...

However, when an email is flagged as spam I'd like them to automatically have it moved into their "spam" folder. When a new user signs up for example I'd like them to have a default score of 5 and a folder called Spam that their "caught" email gets dumped into without having to set anything up initially.

The virus portion I can do outside of the webmail system using mailscanner if need be...;)

Thanks,

Paul
