permision errors with Links 2.0
I am willing to pay someone to look over my Links 2.0 script to determine the problem and fix it. I can gain access to the admin page to edit, but when I edit or add anything I get the following error message:
CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : error in add_record. unable to open database: /home/basshook/bassonhook.com/links/cgibin/admin/data/links.db.
Reason: Permission denied
Script Location : /home/basshook/bassonhook.com/links/cgibin/admin/admin.cgi
Perl Version : 5.006001

Clients can still submit links through the form and I still receive all the documentation but the minute I try to edit anything I get an error message. The link to my directory is http://fishylinks.bassonhook.com
I have no experience in perl and find it very difficult to grasp although when I can find the time I try to work through some tutorials. I stand to loose money until I can resolve this so I am willing to pay someone to resolve this for me. I hope I have provided all the information required to allow someone to move forward on this, but if I haven't I apologise for being ignorant.

Try chmoding (via FTP or SSH) the links.db file 666 (rw-rw-rw-). See how that works.

Dan, thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do what you suggest. I have very little webmaster experience and admit I need to learn more. I wish I had the time. I am willing to pay you to do this for me if that is what you figure is wrong. Thanks

Hi Paul:

If you PM me your FTP info (FTP address, along with FTP username/password), I can have a look. I may require SSH access if I need to change ownership of the file. However, let me see what I can do via FTP with regard to file permissions. No charge =)

Dan, at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, what does PM mean and how do I do it? You don't have to do this for free as I don't expect to have you work for nothing. Once again, thanks very much.

A PM = Private Message. You can click on Dan's username, and on the bottom right of the page, you will see: 'Send PM' (or similar)

I appreciate the offer, but it's a very quick job. And, it goes a long ways to foster the sort of helpful community we have here =)
