Integrating with a CMS
Has anyone successfully integrated GT Forum with a CMS suite, if so which CMS and where could I view the result.

Why would you want to do that?

Because I want to use a decent forum those with CMS's are not that good, certainly not as good as GT Forum.

I want GT to reproduce in the center block of a CMS

Oh! You mean something like PHP-Nuke or Slashcode, where you run the newest postings down the center of the home page?

Couple of years ago, we looked at an "enterprise" CMS that had an add-on forum module - for $50,000! They're out of business now ...

That's right we have a custom written CMS but not keen on the suggested phpbbs - having used GT Forum since the beginning on another sight was looking for some way to integrate the two together.

Go have a look at www.interactivetools.com and their Article Manager product.

I'm in the process of integrating the two and they, GF and AM, are both very solid products.

I've only been live for three (3) days but you are welcome to have a look and send me any constructive comments or suggestions. (I also have a day job so don't be too critical.)

Very impressive Bob .... what CMS are you using. Are you integrating the CMS password with the GT Forum password thereby needing only one sign-in. Very good .....

Thanks.

Yours certainly looks better; I like the layout. However, I do get two "debug' error messages on each view. Probably because I'm not logged in.

As I said, I've only been live since 8.10.02 and have a long way to go as well as a lot to learn. I'm using GF for my forum for my users and using Article Manager from InteractiveTools.com inc. (www.interactivetools.com) for my CMS, as it were. AM has a MySQL version out in beta that I will change to when released in production. I'm using MySQL for GF and I have two other applications to integrate which will be MySQL based as well. Once everything is running independently I plan to have everything integrated among the applications.

AM also has a 'continuation' function for the articles as well as a 'comment on this article' that will either link into GF for comments on the particular article or create a new thread if necessary.

InteractiveTools is also a Vancouver, BC, Canada company and they have terrific support and the techs answer the phone seven days a week. It is a great combination with Gossamer Forum. (Maybe there is something in the water up there in Vancouver that makes both of these companies so good.)
Have a nice day!

Is there any info on how to do this? I need to get GT to use an entirely separate program to do the authentication and login etc, but I can't find any reference to this as a feature in the features list.
