vBulletin Plugin
I'm sure that this is something that will be thought about *after* 2.10 is released, but I thought I'd post it now just to get it out there.

The vBulletin plug-in for Links SQL seems to have gone awry at some point; I'm not sure entirely when - it might have been when I upgraded to the latest version of vBulletin.

When logged out (of vbulletin), dynamic mode does not load at all - a 500 error happens. In addition (separate issue), logging in or out w/ links doesn't seem to have any effect on the cookie.

Overall, if this plug-in is being updated anyway - I'd love to see the functionality work a little more like the GMail plug-in; but that's me.

I'm using Links SQL v2.0.5 and vBulletin v2.21. Alex & Company - if you need access to a vB board on a system with Links, i'd be happy to provide.

Thanks!

vBulletin v2.10 changed to use encrypted passwords from plaintext passwords which won't work with the auth plugin. I'm not sure when this will get done as Alex is busy with Gossamer Community, amongst other things right now.

Hi,

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but the Gossamer Mail vBulletin plugin did not require any changes to work with vBulletin 2.2, so I don't think the Links SQL would either.

Cheers,

Alex

Hmmm... if that's the case, then the plug-in is broken for some other reason. I've not changed anything other than the vBulletin upgrade.

I totally understand if the above projects are a priority - but it would be great if someone could take a look at it sometime in the near future.

Oops. It looks like 2.1 breaks the plugin entirely. Dynamic mode merely gets a 500 error.

I've downgraded back to 2.0.5; but would be willing to re-upgrade anytime you can take a look at this. Just drop me an e-mail.

I re-upgraded now.

Alex - I'd be happy to send my server info if you need to look at a system that has vBulletin and Links 2.1 installed at the same time.

Hi,

Did you get the latest plugin from the site? I updated it a few weeks back and tested it on two sites running Links SQL 2.1 and vBulletin 2.2 and it was working ok.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi,

Oops, this has been fixed. I just put Auth_vBulletin 1.4 up on the site. One version of vBulletin changed the format of their config file which broke the plugin (switched from double quotes to single quotes). =)

Cheers,

Alex: we installed the 1.4 plugin but still doesnt work.

Any details we should look after for the installation?

I checked the "password" fields at both LSQL and VBulletin tables and noticed they are not the same type: LSQL uses char(25) and VB uses an encrypted password of type varchar(50)

Is that a problem?

I tried adding users to VBulletin and LSQL and nothing, would not replicate in either. Logon wont work even if the user is local to LSQL DB.

Same problem here, the connection to the database is ok, but everytime I try to login, it says wrong password or username

Hi Rob,

Sorry about the late reply on this!

Can you send me an email to support-lsql@gossamer-threads.com with ssh/telnet access so I can see what is going on?

The password field in Links SQL does not matter as it is never reference. Any password lookups are done by looking it up in vBulletin.
