Article : A strategic comparison of Windows vs. Unix
An interesting article I picked up on Slashdot earlier today, giving a strategic comparison of Windows vs. Unix and stating that the real question is not 'which is cheaper' but 'which is smarter?'

Hi,

I wasn't too impressed with the article. I'm a linux fan and even I thought it was way too biased (who pays full price for windows when buying 500, who on earth believes that just because the university uses unix, that students will use it at home).

Cheers,

Alex

Well, you just got to look at the URi and you can see that the article is biased.

Still, I'm very interested in this topic at the moment, and I'm looking for more of this stuff. Have you been following the story behind XP leaving Java support out of their new OS?

hmmm ... agreeable ...

It's also a way to get rid of customers who would have wanted that capability.

the java war conclusion ... cut out all functionality that includes other companies and in turn force a lower quality standard on to people and in turn have it become a defacto standard.

interesting ... apple bends over back to use java technology in a world class product and M$ bends over backward to make sure java can't replace a possible future M$ product.

oh well ... another reason for people to find security holes in a potentially good platform.
