I came up with this idea of having a Links database where people can have discussions about the individual links (i.e. a forum for every link in the database), and I wrote a little script to generate the category/forum structure from a links database.
Here is how a category look for my links database: http://www.iyengar-yoga.com/...orum.cgi?category=45.
Beware: this is a big page (100k) and the main category list is even bigger (500k), even though my database is comparatively small (imaging what dmoz would be like....). Also this is not meant to be a working example, only a thought of how GForum and Links could be used together. In a real world implementation, one would probably have to restrict the forum to view only one forum, or one category, and not this huge list of categories/forums.
Let me add that the forum ID's are the same as the link ID's, so it would be very easy to add something like "Discuss this resource" next to every link.
Also, one might think of having a forum per category (that contains links, not for categories that only contain subcategories).
Suggestions/comments are welcome.
