Pumpkins, Beer & Flu Shots, Oh My!

Gossamer Threads ended October with spooktacular pumpkin carvings and terrifying pumpkin beer tastings.

Celebrating Autumn at the office

Fun Fact: What does the ‘Gossamer’, in ‘Gossamer Threads’ mean? Here’s the definition, annotated from dictionary.com:

gos·sa·mer

noun: a fine, filmy substance consisting of webs, which is seen especially in autumn

Alex used ‘Threads’ in the “old” (circa-1996) internet definition, but around this time of year, we prefer to believe he had a more sinister intent. Behold the super-scary first ever Gossamer logo:

Definitely not for the faint of heart, 90’s style.

Zoom back to 2015…

To get into the Halloween spirit, the GT team took part in pumpkin beer tasting.  Intrepid beer tasters Tarrin and Donna gave the different varieties of pumpkin beer a “I guess that’s not too bad” and rated the (non-pumpkin, for variety) Samuel Smith’s Organic Raspberry Fruit Beer a “hey that’s actually pretty good!”.

Lead Software Developer Adrian artfully carved our very own GTMetrix pumpkin, while Designer Sorrel carved out an “incredible” likeness of Edna Mode (from “The Incredibles”, of course!).

Continuing with the terror…

…we took our annual office flu shots.

The kind (& gentle) pharmacist at Rexall Pharmacy came by our office to immunize the team. We are grateful for Ahmad’s professionalism, humour, and quickness!

We’re pleased to report that the folks here at GT are ready to fight the flu bug this winter season.
