Gossamer Links Walkthrough Step 1

Overview:

This walkthrough will provide you with a quick demonstration of the key features found in Gossamer Links. If you are keen to try the program out on your own, please visit the admin, and then try out the user side. If you have any questions, please contact us and we'll answer them as quickly as possible.

Gossamer Links is directory management software. While it is designed to manage link directories, Gossamer Links can be used to manage any sort of category driven structure: image galleries, YellowPages, shopping directories, catalogue indexes, file archives, and search engine supplements are just a few of Gossamer Links' applications.

The admin panel is the primary tool for managing any Gossamer Links directory, so that's where we'll begin.

Your Admin Panel:

Let's start by opening a new browser window and viewing the admin panel. If you are prompted for a username/password, please use admin/admin.

Once loaded, you should see on your left the  "Quick Links" section where you can add and remove frequently used links for easy access. You'll also see links to Gossamer Threads, where to turn to when you have support questions. On top is the main headings: Home, Browse, Database, Build, Email, Plugins, Payments, Setup, Updates, Static, Dynamic and Help. Home will take you back to where you currently are.

Let's go through these one by one. We'll start with the Category Browser. Click on the Browse link to open up the Category Browser.

Try adding some links or categories. Note: in the demo, you won't be able to delete or modify categories. This was implemented so the original data doesn't get too messed up as you play around.
