Customization & Support
The Plugin Manager gives access to a wide and expanding selection of free and pay plug-ins created by Gossamer Threads and our developers community designed to alter the functionality of the program. Create your own plugins to tailor DBMan SQL to your own site's specific needs. Direct modification of the code is not required.
Our MySQLMan and FileMan tools are bundled with DBMan SQL. MySQLMan provides you with a basic SQL interface for SQL databases. FileMan lets you manage your installation's files from your browser.
A detailed Instruction
Manual and in-program help files are available, as well as our
community-driven support forums.
Easy Installation
The program comes as two files, an install file and a data file, and the installation process is completely automated and web based (with optional shell support as well). We also include free installation by our staff if you desire.
Database & Server Compatibility
DBMan SQL can be powered by most major database servers like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or Postgres SQL.
You don't need yet another user database to run DBMan SQL: we have plugins that allow you to integrate DBMan SQL seamlessly into other applications. For instance, you can create a plugin to have DBMan SQL authenticate users off of an existing Web Forum, a Secure ID system, an LDAP server, or any other data source. All that is involved is creating a simple plugin.
One copy of DBMan SQL can run multiple databases of completely different data (all with only one license).
Related and Existing Tables
You can create relations between two tables in the admin area, and then DBMan SQL can use the relations when displaying data (for instance create a relation between an Author table and a Books table, and then you can search all books by a specific author).
DBMan SQL can load its configuration from an existing table, making it very
simple to provide a web front end to any existing database!
File Upload Support
DBMan SQL can easily add file upload fields and store/retrieve files as part of the database.
mod_perl Support
DBMan SQL can run under persistent perl environments like mod_perl or SpeedyCGI for those who need the quickest response times. DBMan SQL even comes with simple instructions for mod_perl setup, and a mod_perl startup file. We offer hosted solutions with mod_perl already setup and configured.
Template System
Included is a powerful template editor to change any aspect of your DBMan SQL installation. You can also alter the language files, or create template globals straight from the admin.
You can have an unlimited number of template sets allowing you to easily brand DBMan SQL in several different looks.
There is no English inside the code! You can customize the templates and the
language file to translate DBMan SQL into any other language!
Admin Features
Admin Panel
Complete control of DBMan SQL is given by the browser-based admin panel. There are no configuration files to edit: all options are controlled directly from your admin panel.
Table and user management is also controlled from the admin panel: add, modify, or delete existing columns easily! Specify specific user permissions for anonymous users, record owners, and logged in users. Separate databases can have the same, or different authentication options (so users can log in once and go seamlessly through multiple databases).
Import/Export
From the admin you can easily import or export data to a delimited text file (which can be imported into Excel or Access easily).
