Gossamer Threads Banner Management Solutions

Rather then re-invent the wheel, and create yet another banner program, Gossamer Threads has partnered with two of the best banner management systems around to provide integrated solutions to our products.

For users with advanced banner requirements, you might want to consider the AdvertPRO plugin. A complete list of features can be found on the AdvertPRO website.

We recommend using the AdCycle plugin for small to medium-sized sites with uncomplicated banner requirements. Be sure to check out the AdCycle site for a full list of features.

Benefits of the Plugin

  • Ease of installation - All plugins are downloaded, installed and configured from within your browser. There is no need to edit any text files and you won't have to open your FTP client.
  • Easy Updates - The plugins are updated whenever a new version of AdvertPRO or AdCycle is released. Downloading and installing the newest version of the plugin will automatically update your installation.
  • Integrated Solution - The plugins contain code that makes it easy to add banners to our programs. For instance, in Gossamer Links, you simply insert <%Plugins::Adcycle::display_banner%> wherever you want a banner to appear. You will not need to edit Perl code to figure out how to display banners as in previous iterations of our programs.

Q: I don't have a copy of AdvertPRO or AdCycle, do I need one?

Included in the purchase price of the plugin is a fully licensed copy of either banner management program complete with a registration number. You will not have to purchase a license separately, all the steps are integrated into one. With this registration number, you can use the banner program even if you are no longer using the plugin.

Q: I already own AdvertPRO or AdCycle, is the cost the same?

If you already own a copy of either AdvertPRO or AdCycle, you will not have to pay for the license fee again, so the plugin prices are US$75 for the Adcycle plugin and US$100 for the AdvertPRO plugin. Please make sure to provide us with the registration number you already have for us to verify it with the respective companies.

Q: Which Gossamer applications support the banner plugins?

Currently Gossamer Links, Gossamer Mail, Gossamer Forum and DBMan SQL. All future products we create will support our plugin system.

Q: How does the plugin system work?

To download a plugin, simply go to the Plugins section from within your admin panel. Clicking on Plugin Download and then asking for the program to List plugins on Gossamer Threads by clicking on the Show button will present to you all the plugins available for that program. You can then download the plugin and install it all from within the admin panel, all without editing text files or using your FTP client. After installation, there will be a Help file that contains detailed instructions on how to use the plugin.

Q: How are updates to AdvertPRO/AdCycle handled?

We will provide new versions of the plugin whenever the programs are updated. You simply download the new version from your admin, and click Install. The plugin system will update your AdvertPRO/AdCycle installation.

AdvertPRO Plugin: This plugin costs US$649 and includes a fully licensed copy of AdvertPRO (US$549 value). This include unlimited upgrades from AdvertPRO.

AdCycle Plugin: This plugin costs US$75. This also includes all 1.xx upgrades from AdCycle.
