zope.org - changes

On the zope.org frontpage i removed the box
"CA and Zope to Bring Open Source Content Management to Mainstream
Enterprise Market"

The link to http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040524/nym203_1.html has expired.

I suspect this changelog will become just another fossil.
I think the only hope is to add comments in code.

What do others feel?

Not at all, you are welcome to add your changes too.

Comments are added in code as necessary.

I'd be glad to add the changes to
http://zope.org/Collectors/ZopeOrg/
instead of using the /changelog file

if we could flag them under topic e.g. 'changelog'
and restrict access to manager role only.

What if I, or others, forget to update it?

Hurm, really all the software should be on disk, then comments could be
maintained in a SVN or CVS log...

Well, the problem is with so much stuff living in the "custom" folder :-S

Has anyone made any headway on getting this stuff back into the
disk-based software?

No problem to have a FilesystemDirectoryView for just the customized
objects. I guess the changes are all zope.org specific, so no need to
change the products.

All that is needed with FSDVs is, zope.org (not running in debug mode)
will need a restart everytime you make a change to the skins.

I'm pretty sure such a thing exists, it's just that people shoved stuff
in custom 'cos it was easier to do :-S

...yeah, and this could be a pain. It maybe well have BEEN the pain that
lead to so much stuff in 'custom' in the first place ;-)

fwiw, I have used the FSDump product successfully to
dump things from folders onto the filesystem to prepare for
putting them in an FSDV.

IIRC there was some post-dump tweaking needed but I've forgotten what,
it didn't take long... anyway the process was a whole lot faster than
manual copy/paste would have been.
