Sharing Remises

Hi lists,

I'll arrive Ezeiza Airport at 09:20, Mon., Aug 24 by CO051 from Houston.
Would anybody like to share Remises to the Bauen Hotel?
Since I will leave Japan 15:55 JST (06:55 UTC), Sunday, 23rd, I hope to hear
somebody join me before I'm on board, but I'll keep effort to be
online at Houston.

Best,

--Takashi OTA

Looks like we'll be on the same flight from Houston. :-) We have
seats 31A&B. We're coming from Vancouver and connecting in Houston.
Sharing transportation sounds like a good idea.

Ray

Re: Sharing Remises [In reply to]

Deat Takashi,

My piece of advise is:

- If you are going to take a taxi or remis, get it in the official stands
that are just after passing customs. In the same area of customs you will
find a Banco de la Nación Argentina to exchange money. Do not exchange money
in other stands, the best rate will be the one of Banco Nación (national
bank).
- If you want to get to the hotel in a more inexpensive way go to the
stand of Manuel Tienda León bus to "Terminal Madero"
http://www.tiendaleon.com.ar/home/home.asp It costs ARS 40, you can pay
with credit card. Once in "Terminal Madero" take a taxi to the hotel. Every
taxi driver should know where this hotel is and the price of the journey
should be not less than ARS 13 and not more than ARS 20.

If in trouble show this text to the taxi Driver:

"Lléveme al Hotel Bauen, en Callao entre Sarmiento y Corrientes. He sido
informado del recorrido y el precio que debo pagar por el viaje."

(Take me to the Bauen hotel, in Callao Street between Sarmiento and
Corrientes. I have been informed about the price of the journey)

Carlos.

In this case, get a taxi only on the stands that are placed right after
Customs. Do not accept taxi services offerred by individuals.

Carlos,
You rock. Especially, the last sentence should come in handy to a lot of
folks coming in from other countries.

I will be on that Houston-Buenos Aires flight as well, in seat 32A, after
connecting from St. Louis, and I'm also up for sharing transportation.
(Thanks, Carlos, for your advice!)

How many people, with their luggage, will normally fit in one of these
taxis?

Re: Sharing Remises [In reply to]

Taxis are regular sedan cars, you can carry as much luggage as it fits in
the rear trunk.

If you are three or more with much luggagge its probably better to get a
minivan

http://www.tiendaleon.com.ar/home/empresa/que_hacemos_2.asp

Ask at Manuel Tienda León counter in the Airport.

Carlos.

Re: Sharing Remises [In reply to]

Thanks Carlos!
I printed out your email just in case. It would help a lot of participants.
Great, great job!

Ray and Jim:
I will bring something with Wikimania-logo to be notified easier.
You can find me around boarding gate, or in a lounge.

See you in Houston! (and in Buenos Aires)
