Resolution: I didn't have PHP error logging enabled, but did so and
found nothing. I trussed the http process and pored over the output, to
no avail. So, I disabled all extensions apart from an essential UserAuth
one and FCKeditor - Version was fine, so I re-enabled the extensions and
of course the last one I enabled was the problem - PathFunctions, which
I discovered is obsolete in 15.0, so that's been permanently removed
now. Problem solved.
