better preview - how hard is this sort of bug?

Redirects don't render as redirects in preview:
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14484

Not that I'm expecting developers to dive into fixing this :-) I'm
just curious how hard or easy this sort of thing is to fix. Does it
require duplicating functionality in preview? Is there a better way?

Probably not very hard, but nobody's gotten round to it. Duped to

I suppose we're already used to it. It have even taken advantage of it
for rendering some #REDIRECT page with wikitext below it.
