Delete User contributions and Logs

Delete User contributions and Logs

Hey List,

Once my site is completed, how can I delete all my logs and User
contributions to prevent the site
getting rolled back to a template that was still being designed?

If you're concerned about malicious changes to an article or template, you
can protect that particular page. If you're concerned about changes to your
site as a whole, you can restrict editing. <

Removing logs and such will not prevent vandalism.

Hi,

I'm not concerned about vandalism, and I do want to allow members to edit as
it will be a community based Wiki. I would just like to have any changes I
made in the site developement removed before we launch. So any future ranges
would reflect on our launch date.

you can delete the page and then selectively restore some of the pages, ie
the last one that you want.

Or, from a WikiSysop account, export all pages with the "Include only
the current revision, not the full history" option. Then recreate the
site (a quick way would be to delete the current installation and
re-install), and import the exported pages.

If you're sure you want to delete all old revisions, and you've cleared any
potential licensing issues (if your wiki is licensed under a Creative
Commons license or the GDFL, you'll probably be violating the terms of the
license if you fail to attribute all edits), then you can run the
maintenance script called deleteOldRevisions.php. <

I think his concern is the same as mine - having a "starting point" in
the database that doesn't include all the design edits done by the sysop
during site design and initial load

The only script I know of that's _confirmed_ to be safe to run under 1.11 is
update.php, but most of them _should_ work. Probably. Anyway, would you
run something called deleteOldRevisions.php without a backup? :)

Why of course, else they wouldn't include it right there in the
maintenance directory. Ask yourself, do you worry about each
program in /usr/bin/* on your Linux/GNU system? Of course not.
Oh, I see. You think the maintenance directory is like some college
dorm refrigerator. Never mind the bulb being burned out, let's just
reach in and...

update.php, but most of them _should_ work. Probably. Anyway, would you
run something called deleteOldRevisions.php without a backup? :)

So running any of the mantenance scripts is fine, just don't be the
idiot that never backs up their database before trying something out.
Attempting to do anything involving database alterations is stupid if
you haven't backed up.

Backing up the database is great - but I've yet to see a clear and
concise set of instructions for doing so which doesn't assume a lot of
knowledge and experience on the part of the user. For example, I
exported all my pages once - and there were maybe 20 or so - and could
not re-import. The default settings for memory wouldn't permit it and I
never was able to figure out exactly what to tweak to get this basic
functionality working.

That documentation assumes a lot of knowledge? If you let me know what
