[patch 0/4] Improve cross-awareness

Hi,
here is a patch series with its main purpose of easing cross-compiling of vpnc.
For that, makeman.pl is extended so it prints a default text when the target
binary cannot be executed. Also, a legacy function is removed for optimized
libc-versions. It also adds a tiny bit of documentation, while we are at it :)
