vpnc and tuntap issues on MacOS X 10.5.2

Hi all,
if this is a FAQ, I apologise.
I'm connecting to a cisco concentrator from two machines; a FreeBSD
host and my Macbook. The vpnc version is identical on both (0.5.1).
Configuration file is identical, and the machines are on the same
network. The FreeBSD host connects and functions as expected.
However on the Macbook, I can see traffic leaving the tun0 interface,
but nothing is returning. However, I see ipsec packets going both ways
when monitoring the physical interface - though I have no idea if they
contain what I want them to contain, or if they are simply a result of
the "encapsulation".
Can anyone point me in the right direction for troubleshooting this?
