Running VPNC persistently and running several connections in parallel

Hello,

I am interested in using VPNC to link a LAN via a Linux router to
remote equipment behind a Cisco VPN.

I am running VPNC 0.5.1 on Ubuntu 8.04 and so far it works well, but I
have a few questions regarding its configuration.

- Persistent connections:
Is there a way to make VPNC to bring back connections that have been
dropped for any other reason user initiated disconnection. If not is
there a recommended technique to make sure the link is up and if not,
bring it backup.

- Different vpnc connection in parallel:
Is it possible to connect to different VPNs at the same time using
VPNC? I feel that is possible, but some that is disconcerting if that
the vpnc-disconnect command seems that will take all VPNC connections
down regardless of which one is the the one that we want to bring down.

Thanks,
Pepe

I have this working with Debian, but I needed to patch vpnc-disconnect
to allow specification of the connection name to disconnect (in much
the same way that vpnc-connect does). You can then call the
relevant-named PID file.

You also need to use "Local port" to specify different source ports
for each connection.

I had started some work on this in January, but had to let it rest for
lack of time. Now I intend to pick it up again. You might be interested
in reading on the previous thread, including a patch and description of
memory leak problems. I'll try to continue that same thread.
